去年の今頃は大阪でTOEICクラスを開講していました。東京の月例英字新聞勉強会を大阪でもやっと開催できました。カナダ時代からのAbleの卒業生に新しい参加者も加わり楽しい会になりました。
多くの卒業生が仕事で英語を使う機会があるものの当時の英語力を維持するのはなかなか大変だという本音も聞けました。
勉強会の後は、カフェに。お茶をしながら、就活中の大学生に先輩社会人達が自分に合った会社の見つけ方をアドバイスしたり、インタビューアーになって質問したりとほほえましい展開に。私はこの卒業生同志のある種の”仲間意識“みたいな暖かさに癒されました。

I taught TOEIC classes in Osaka one year ago this month. I am back in Osaka to start this year’s classes. While I have been giving classes in Tokyo, I could not offer classes in Osaka until now.
I am pleased to have Able graduates – from my school in Canada – as well as a newcomer. Even though many graduates are using English in their work to one degree or another, most confessed to me how difficult it is to maintain the level of English reached by each of them in Canada. After the class, we all went for coffee. One participant, a university student, is in the middle of looking for a job. Others gave her advice over coffee in choosing companies to focus her search and introducing warm and spontaneous discussion into the interview.
