桜の季節もおわりゴールデンウイークもそろそろ。日本では桜は身近な春の風物詩。ヨーロッパや北米では桜は見られませんが、バンクーバーでは、桜が至る所に植えられていて東京より先に満開になります。私は３月２０日にバンクーバーに到着したのですがその時にはすでに桜は満開でした。
また、バンクーバーではいろいろな種類の桜を見ることができます。種類が多いので開花時期も様々で長い間桜の時期を楽しむことができます。普段は写真を撮っている人たちをあまり見ないのです桜の時期には満開の桜をカメラに収める人たちに出会います。私の家の近くでも桜並木ができており私も思わず写真を撮りました。
The season of cherry blossoms has ended in Japan just as its long holiday season begins. In Japan, we associate cherry blossoms with spring. Although there aren’t many in Europe, cherry trees are abundant in Vancouver.
When I had arrived in Vancouver this March, cherry trees were in full bloom. Sporting such a variety of cherry tree, Vancouver’s blooms begin much earlier and last much longer than in Tokyo.
